Definition

Floor activities are gym exercises done on mats to build strength and flexibility. They include moves like rolls and handstands.



Equipment Needed for Floor activities
  1. Floor Mat (12m × 12m padded surface).

  2. Safety Mats (for landing).

  3. Springboard (for take-off in some moves).



Basic Floor activities
  1. Forward Roll - Bend down, put hands on mat, tuck your head, roll forward like a ball, and stand up.

  2. Backward Roll - Squat low, roll backwards, push with your hands, and finish standing.

  3. Cartwheel - Move sideways like a wheel: hand-hand-foot-foot.

  4. Handstand - Kick up onto your hands with straight arms and legs.

  5. Headstand - Balance upside-down on your head and hands.


Advanced Skills in floor activities
  1. Round-off (Cartwheel with 180° turn).

  2. Back Walkover (Backward arching motion).

  3. Front Handspring (Forward flip with hand support).

  4. Aerial Cartwheel (No-hands cartwheel).



Safety Rules in floor activities
  1. Always warm up for 10-15 minutes

  2. Use proper landing techniques (bent knees).

  3. Have a spotter for new skills.

  4. Remove all jewelry before practice.

  5. Progress from simple to complex moves.
