Social problems are the various harmful conditions or behaviours that affect a large number of people in society. They disturb the peace, progress, and wellbeing of individuals and the community as a whole. A social problem is any situation that many people consider undesirable and want to change.

Social problems can also be define as any issue or condition in society that negatively affects the well-being of individuals and groups, and makes it difficult for people to live harmoniously. Social problems usually result from human behaviour, poor management of resources, or breakdown of societal values. They can affect families, communities, and the nation as a whole.
