The Road Safety Club is a voluntary organization formed in schools to promote safety on our roads. It is made up mainly of students who are trained to understand road safety rules and assist in educating others about how to prevent accidents. It operates under the guidance of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Nigeria.

1. To Teach members and the public the proper use of the road.


2. To Reduce accidents by promoting road safety awareness.


3. To Help students to develop good road habits early in life.


4. To Support the work of the Federal Road Safety Corps in the community.


5. To Encourage discipline, patience, and respect for traffic laws.

1. Approval from the School Authority – The principal or headteacher must approve and agree to partner with the FRSC.


2. Appointment of a Patron/Matron – A teacher is chosen to serve as adviser and coordinator of the club.


3. Registration with the FRSC – The school registers the club with the nearest FRSC unit for official recognition.


4. Election of Student Officers – Members elect leaders such as president, secretary, treasurer, and public relations officer.


5. Regular Training and Meetings – FRSC officials provide training, lectures, and demonstrations, while the club meets to plan and carry out activities.

1. Educating fellow students on traffic rules and road signs.


2. Assisting pedestrians, especially children and elderly people, to cross the road safely.


3. Organizing talks, lectures, and dramas on road safety.


4. Controlling traffic in the school compound during busy periods.


5. Serving as road safety ambassadors in the community.

2. To Encourage a sense of responsibility towards personal and public safety.


3. To Promote teamwork through group activities such as campaigns, drama, and debates.


4. To Develop leadership skills by assigning roles and duties within the club.


5. To Create awareness on the dangers of reckless road use and the importance of safety culture.

1. Primary School Level – Known as Junior Road Safety Clubs.


2. Secondary School Level – Found in both junior and senior secondary schools.


3. Tertiary Institution Level – Established in colleges of education, polytechnics, and universities.
