Potential Energy (PE):

Potential energy is the energy stored in an object due to its position in a force field, typically a gravitational or electromagnetic field.



Kinetic Energy (KE):

Kinetic energy is the energy an object possesses due to its motion.



RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN POTENTIAL AND KINETIC ENERGY
  1. Potential energy (PE) can be converted into kinetic energy (KE) and vice versa . For example When an object falls, its gravitational potential energy is converted into kinetic energy.

  2. If there is no friction, the total energy (PE + KE) in a system stays constant. Example: The initial PE and KE will equal the final PE and KE.

  3. Energy cannot be created or destroyed, only changed from one form to another. Without friction, PE turns into KE and KE turns back into PE, keeping total energy the same.
